Fact: Though the exact origins of April Fool's day isn't exactly pinpointed, it's speculated that it started in the 1500's when Charles IX in France decided to change the calendar to what it is today, switching the New Year from April 1st to January 1st. Because many people have trouble giving up traditions, some continued to celebrate the New Year in April. These people earned the name "April fools" and were mocked for being idiots and rejecting change. Though everyone eventually adapted to the calendar alteration, the mocking and prank-pulling stuck around, too.
